Webbie's Independent - more hip hop spelling lessons
Spelling lessons - fun! It goes from horrible - a song that misspells the word it chants! - to bearable, once you've gotten used to it. Fergie's Glamorous is pretty good, and we all love Hollaback Girl, if only to hate it.
Add Webbie's Independent to the list. And it isn't too bad.
Still, it gets boring really quickly. I-N-D - whatever! This song simply does not have the catchy, repetitive and driving quality to be more than a supplemental song.
But because of that movie - Step up 2 - it's right up there at spot #13. And let's not mention how poorly the music video was made: you simply do not get the Nobel Prize in science that quickly. If you have no idea what I'm saying, or you don't even care, it's understandable.
...but even if you're good enough, you can expect to get your Nobel Prize 20-30 years after your invention.
Either way, this song should be in the #30s, and hopefully it'll go there next week.
And what's up with Yael Naim's New Soul? It's certainly a touchy-feely song, and those tend to take time to grow on you - like mold - before you start breaking down whenever you hear them. "It's just so true," you might stammer one week after a drink or two.
Of course, a week later you wonder what ever attracted you.
Either way, at least it's good to see that the most random, bizarre songs can shoot up, in contrast with highly polished and publicized stuff like Webbie's Independent. On second thought, it seems that Yael does have some Apple connections.
Maybe not.
