Flo Rida's Low on Top

The current top song? Low, by Flo Rider.

What a bad song! Boring beat, annoying lyrics, and some 1-hit-wonder lead vocal. It probably only got where it is because of the Step Up promotion. No, no. If you have needs to get low, please dear God turn to the classic lil' John piece "Get Low."

The worst part is that this song is the type that stays around for a long, long time. We'll be hearing it for another month - at least.

A much better song - currently hanging around #21, is Lupe Fiasco's Superstar. It's got a sick beat, excellent vocals and it actually seems to mean something. Best of all, its music video is worth watching, as I have been doing somewhat obsessively.

My bet is that Superstar will get as far as #8 within 3 weeks and hang around there for a short while. It does not have the sound or fit the stereotypical #1 song, so I'm guessing it won't get any higher than that, but who knows. We've seen all sorts of oddballs get to the top - perhaps Superstar just isn't odd enough?

On the other hand, Apologize by Timbaland has been around the top ten for a while now. And, while both are distinctly their own works, that song has an eerily similar feel to Superstar.

Whatever. Lupe's Superstar is certainly a good song and does deserve a spot higher than #21. But as with anything, too much of a good thing drives you crazy. Proof?
